We are seeking a motivated, disciplined, and energetic controller to join our team to transition our organization as we scale operations and start into material revenues in 2009.
Position Description:
Reporting to the CEO and contract CFO, the Controller will be responsible for the management of the accounting function. The right individual will be able to grow with the company.
Responsibilities:
- Effectively lead the accounting team in providing service excellence to our internal and external customers, suppliers and internal personnel.
- Co-ordinate the timely and accurate preparation of the monthly financial reporting packages.
- Communicate financial information and accounting matters with directors and executive team.
- Guide the budget and forecast processes including the 5 yr plan as required.
- Guide the expansion of the company AccPac ERP system.
- Ensure inventory, COGS and margin reporting is accurate and timely.
- Prepare year-end working papers and coordinate outside audits (both statutory and attest) ensuring proactive compliance with GAAP and other statutory regulations.
- Maintain review process for monthly journal entries and GL reconciliations (incl. bank reconciliation, AR sub ledger, AP sub ledger, inventory, etc.) for operations.
- Recommend commodity tax planning strategies and review commodity tax filings.
- Various ad hoc projects under the direction of the CFO or CEO.
- Recommend areas to improve efficiencies and reduce cost.
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years financial accounting experience, preferably in a multi-location/manufacturing environment. Minimum of 2 years in a multi-function supervisory role.
- Professional accounting designation (CA, CMA, CGA). Senior standing with all educational requirements completed will be considered.
- Experience with Sage Accpac ERP systems highly desirable (or other mid-Tier accounting system with a multi-location/multi-currency environment).
- In-depth costing/manufacturing module experience an asset.
- Great communication and interpersonal skills at all levels of an organization.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to research and resolve problems and identify opportunities.
- Dedicated, professional attitude; enthusiastic and willing to learn.
- Able to work in a rapidly changing environment under tight deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, Access and/or other analysis/reporting tools.
