Zeugma’s SmartBoost App Selected as a Finalist for Telco TV's Vision Awards
Unique Application Allows Subscribers to Dynamically Modify Broadband Bandwidth Using Browsers, TV Remotes, or Smart Phones
NOVEMBER 5, 2009, ORLANDO, FL—Zeugma Systems, announced today that its SmartBoost application has been named a finalist for the “Innovation in Broadband Networks” category of TelcoTV’s annual Vision Awards. This prestigious nomination recognizes groundbreaking technologies that benefit both broadband operators and their customers.

According to Kevin Walsh, vice president of marketing at Zeugma Systems, “We are honored by the recognition from TelcoTV. SmartBoost is a first-of-its-kind application in two important regards. First, it achieves something that has long been the broadband holy grail: a simple, inexpensive, and intuitive way for subscribers to instantly modify the bandwidth they are receiving. Second, it exemplifies the benefits we have long espoused that result from a carrier-class broadband edge network element with an in-built scalable compute grid. Namely, the ability to quickly—in a matter of days—instantiate new services such as those delivered with SmartBoost.”
Zeugma will be demonstrating the SmartBoost application at booth number 315 on the TelcoTV show floor. The demonstration will use a live broadcast feed from Skitter.TV and allow observes to dynamically adjust bandwidth and instantly observe the result on video quality.
Like other Smart Series applications, SmartBoost runs within the Zeugma Open Application Sandbox (OAS), an application support framework employing the Zeugma Service Node’s (ZSN’s) scalable, high-performance compute grid. The ZSN is able to simultaneously support a wide variety of OAS-based applications, including SmartVideo, SmartMeter, SmartVOIP, and SmartMonitor, as well as third-party applications.
