Certain service flows, namely VOIP and streaming video, either require or operate best with enhanced quality of service (QOS). Application-driven QOS (ADQ) allows service providers to market services that dynamically enhance QOS for certain types of service flows without incrementally expanding downstream bandwidth. Similar to ADB, the ADQ application dynamically creates session-specific queues and carves out bandwidth for the flow in question. Also similar to ADB, the ADQ application generates settlement records upon session termination.
